How do you find the right control unit with the car flasher?
How do you find the right control unit with the Autoflasher?*
The Autoflasher guides you through the process of selecting the right control unit. Using a menu, you select the vehicle type, manufacturer, model, and engine step by step. The tool even automatically detects if you have accidentally selected the wrong control unit and automatically sets the appropriate protocol. This allows you to reliably find the right ECU without any guesswork.
Can you read out errors (error memory) with the car flasher?
No, the Autoflasher is not a diagnostic device and does not have a classic function for reading out error memories. However, if errors are located in the control unit itself—e.g., in the original file—these can be detected during writing and automatically removed. However, this does not replace a complete diagnosis.
Why do some functions not work via OBD?
Some control units are blocked from OBD access due to manufacturer protection or technical circumstances. In such cases, one resorts to bench or boot mode: With bench flash, the control unit is removed (without opening it) and connected directly via the pins. In boot flash mode, the control unit must be opened in isolated cases if neither OBD nor bench access is possible. The Autoflasher supports both modes and provides the necessary accessories so that even secured ECUs can be processed.
Can you code with the Autoflasher?
No. The coding of comfort functions (e.g., lighting, sounds, locks) is not part of the Autoflasher’s range of functions. The tool specializes in chip tuning and ECU/TCU programming – it is used to read, optimize, and rewrite engine and transmission control units. Classic coding or programming functions for on-board electronics (as offered by Carly or VCDS, for example) are not covered by the Autoflasher.
Is there a license requirement or license models for Autoflasher?
There is no mandatory ongoing license – the Autoflasher comes with no minimum term or subscription commitment. However, a time-limited update package is usually included with the purchase (often 12 months, for example), during which you receive all new protocols and vehicle support free of charge. After expiration, all functions available up to that point remain intact (e.g., Virtual Read or Reset to Original); for future updates, you can renew your subscription if necessary, but you don’t have to. In addition, the Autoflasher is available in different versions: master versions (for standalone tuners, full control over the tuning files) and cheaper slave versions (work with an external file service or master), so that everyone can choose the right model for their needs.
What functions does the Autoflasher offer?
The Autoflasher’s range of functions covers all important areas of chip tuning. You can use it to read and rewrite all common engine and transmission control units, with the tool automatically calculating the necessary checksums. It also supports ECU cloning (a complete backup/restore function, e.g., when replacing a control unit). In addition, control units can be reset to their original state or software versions can be specifically downgraded and upgraded, and existing error codes are automatically deleted after flashing. In short: all important functions for professional tuning and control unit repairs are combined in the Autoflasher.
Which vehicles is the Autoflasher compatible with?
The car flasher is compatible with a wide range of vehicles, from popular car brands to trucks, motorcycles, and even boats. Currently, there are around *40,000 protocols* for over *25,000 different vehicles* in the database. Thanks to this enormous coverage, you can work with most brands, models, and engines using a single device. And the range is constantly growing, as new vehicles and control unit protocols are added regularly.
Are there any updates for the Autoflasher?
Yes, the Autoflasher is continuously updated. New control unit protocols and vehicle models are added almost daily, expanding the range of functions. Updates are conveniently provided online via the software; all new features are included in the initial license period (usually 12 months from purchase). Even without extending your subscription, your device remains fully functional—you retain all the functions and protocols you have received so far. Only those who want further new enhancements after the included update phase has expired can optionally extend their update subscription.
How user-friendly is the Autoflasher?
The Autoflasher is designed to be very user-friendly, so even beginners can use it with ease. The case supplied contains all the accessories you need—just unpack it and get started right away. The software is intuitive and guides you step by step through the process (e.g., you simply select your vehicle, and the tool automatically takes care of the rest, such as the appropriate protocol), so that operating errors are virtually impossible.
